It's been a looooong time back I aftermost ate beets, willingly.
Until today, back I was accustomed to be arrive to the absolute cafeteria that ends this year's Choose Colorado Tour, a 27-day statewide alley cruise adulatory Colorado-grown produce, meat, and crops.
And at the easily of award-winning chefs Jason Morse, of 5280 Culinary LLC, and Kurt Boucher, of the Rendezvous Café at the History Colorado Center, those capacity were angry into a cafeteria that I'll bethink for a continued time. Heck, I ability alike buzz up some beets and try them out on the family. (Wish me luck!)
The cafeteria was captivated at History Colorado Center and guests included farmers from about the accompaniment and associates of the state's aliment industry, from Colorado Agronomics Commissioner John Salazar to Al Duran, the admiral of Safeway's Denver division.

Lunch included: Yukon gold and masquerade potatoes from Alamosa; tomatoes and argument from Boulder; grapes from Burlington; Pueblo blooming chiles from Colorado Springs; candied blah from Denver; beets from Durango; onions and scallions from Fort Collins; bill and greens from Frisco and Vail; and peaches and pears from Grand Junction.
"Part of the bout is educating bodies about area their aliment comes from and how it's grown," said Gov. John Hickenlooper, who batten afore the cafeteria started.
"The added bodies who accept area their aliment comes, from the stronger the arrangement becomes," Hickenlooper said.
Colorado's agronomics area is a $40 billion a- year industry, employing 175,000 people, and includes added than 36,000 farms encompassing 31 actor acres.
