I think you are talking about space available flights and I don't know that any airline has them anymore, you could check out the web sites for the airlines servicing El Paso and see.

The US Air Force does offer very cheap (like $10) flights to military members on leave. Lots of downside -- it is aptly named space AVAILABLE -- you can easily get bumped by a load of generators or repair parts. But it is also an exciting, cheap way to get somewhere. Links below. Good luck!

I do not think that there any space flights from the base that you at. You have to go San Antonio and use lackland AFB, Contact the air lines and ask them what Military fares they have. Also go to the PX and buy a book called space A travel it will explain everything there are many factors when flying space A.

space a is done from af base to af base. problem with this is you could get stuck some where. (my friend was stuck in alaska for 6 weeks.) check regular travel sites/agengies these fairs are generaly cheaper than military discounts or ITT prices

Well definently the website you should go to is www.pepperd.com it is by far the best site that my family has used. Space A is good in that it is free, but it isn't reliable. First they can't really tell you what flights are coming until just a day or two before they arrive (for security reasons). Also many flights get canceled, rerouted, or are just to full with cargo. My dad was in the army for 20 years so we've been able to use space-a alot to our advantage but we have also gotten stuck in Japan, Germany, the Azores, and Greece so have an alternate plan aswell.

Airlines don't offer Space-A flights.. those are limited to Air Force flights.. from AF base to AF base... and you will need to show military ID and a copy of your orders (either showing a change in station or approved leave). Some airlines do still offer military discounts, and you just have to show your military ID upon check-in to prove you're entitled to the discount. Also, you have to CALL the airlines and ask if there are any military disounted seats available on the flight you're taking. They won't show up online.

Space A can be cheap, but it is not easy and not dependable. Inside the US, seats are limited, are given out be categories. People on official orders always take priority, so if your seat is needed during any leg of the flight, you are left high and dry. Space A is great if you are not in a rush or have the funds to buy a last minute (and always more exspensive) ticket if you get bumped. Generally, the safest bet is to fly commercial. As for special fares, the best thing to do is find out who has the best deal for the trip and then call the customer service line of that airline to see if they offer anything additional for military. Often, special fares are limited to military members returning from deployments or on emergency leave and will require appropriate documentation, but there is never any harm in asking. Also, most bases have a travel office (SATO is a common one) and they often have information on fare sales and bargins.

Under those criteria, I would suggest just paying to fly. There are few Space-A's that go to bases in Colorado. If you were trying to leave from, let's say, Dover and go to Ramstein, then it would be fairly easy. It's easy to get signed up and get going if you're at a major port, but coming back may not be so easy. Just drive or fly commercial.

Dude, El Paso to Colorado Springs... How much could a commercial ticket possibly cost? I wouldn't risk wasting a big chunk of leave for that. Seriously....
